Although the Portuguese film industry is usually centred in the nation’s capital, Porto still nonetheless produces some fine talents for the movie and tv scenes, such as Débora Monteiro (Best Actress) or Nuno Rocha (Best Director).
Still, it’s in the art and culture departments that the city usually shows its strongest suits. In the Best Art Gallery, and despite the fierce competition from some of the most renowned galleries in the Miguel Bombarda Art District, it was Galeria Municipal do Porto who came out on top and took the prize.
In the Best Graffiti Artist, Mr. Dheo proved once again why he’s one of the greatest names in the game, beating all the other artists and crews. Lara Luís finished second, but she didn’t go home empty-handed, as the illustrator later won Best Cartoonist.
Finally, NOS Primavera Sound is still the barometer by which all the other festivals in the city are evaluated. Which is why, and with no surprise, won the Best Festival award.
