BIG BAD BANK BAR

Ladies and gentleman – a bar inside a vault. A FREAKIN’ VAULT! Even if nothing else worked, this would already be enough to land Big Bad Bank a place on a list of the most inventive concepts in the city. But luckily, as part of the innovative Zero Hotels (where you can also find the new restaurant “O Carniceiro”) this is one smooth ride. The atmosphere and decoration are bizarrely entertaining, the service is casual and their original cocktails delicious! In fact, we recommend going for the Perfect Heist, one of their signature recipes with port wine, lime juice, fig liqueur and dark chocolate bitter… quite the explosive combo! If you ever wondered where Jesse James had a break mid-robberies for a cold one, this place would be a pretty good contender. Big Bad Bank is open from Monday to Saturday between noon and 1am (extended to 3am on the weekends).

COLOSSUS CRAFT BREWERY

After dedicating 3 years to the art of brewing the perfect beer and selling it in various outlets all around the city, Colossus has finally taken the next step and inaugurated their very own facilities. In fact, they renovated an outdated space in their factory and made it into a Tap Room, where customers can walk-in, pick their favourite beer and just relax while reading a magazine and listening to some music. If you’re feeling especially adventurous (and artsy), you can even pick-up a guitar and put on a one-man-show that would make Keith Richards blush with shame! Colossus Tap Room is open from Wednesday to Saturday between 6pm and midnight.

BARTOLOMEU BISTRO & WINE
Housed inside a renovated city palace which nowadays serves as a fancy boutique hotel (Torel 1884 Suites & Apartments), Bartolomeu is a sophisticated gastro bar and the perfect go-to place if you’re planning on surprising someone with a special late-afternoon date. With a strong focus on Portuguese wines (over 80 different varieties to choose from) and a surprising French twist on some traditional local recipes, Bartolomeu stands as a pretty hip place where you can either have a glass of wine to go along with a cheese board, or take it one step further and indulge in some dining. The atmosphere – as well as the decoration – are both elegant and relaxed, with several elements honouring the 15thcentury Age of Discoveries. In fact, the Wine Bar itself is named after the famous Portuguese navigator Bartolomeu Dias – now go ask Dr. Google why he’s so important! Bartolomeu Bistro & Wine is open every day between noon and 11pm.
