Five Secret Tea Houses in Porto To Take Your BFF for High Tea

Let’s take punctuality very seriously. It’s time for our five o’clock tea!

Even though their tea list is not extensive, it was carefully curated. The options include Yunnan white tea, Sencha Fukuyu green tea, Sakura (white tea with cherry blossoms from japan) and others. The peppermint and cinnamon-basil infusions with herbs from Ervas da Zoé are also a must try.

This cute spot is also the land of cupcakes, banana bread and scones, options that go hand in hand with your selected tea.

Chá Clube is an insitution and one of the oldest tea houses in Porto. It’s sophisticated yet cozy and could easily be mistaken for a British tea house. Small touches, like the music or china used, help set the difference and the mood. Choose one of the teas available plus the famous scones with butter and jam. It’s time to share one of those moments you will cherish for a long time due to its simplicity.

Rota do Chá

Hidden inside what might look like a normal house, Rota do Chá is the gateway to an alternative space, with its many rooms and zen like vibe. There are oriental details everywhere and the garden is just perfect for a date with your friend on a sunny day. The teas available are endless, from spicy to sweeter flavors. Before leaving, visit their store where you guys can buy your weight in herbs and host your own tea party.

Dente de Leão Boutique de chá

The name of this tea house, Dente de Leão (“Dandelion”), honors the plant that is both used to make tea but also to make wishes. And for the owner, it was just like a dream came true when the opportunity came to open this space. The soothing ambiance and view to their lovely garden (it’s closed during winter time), it’s perfect for you to relax and enjoy some tea and brunch, which is entirely homemade. The tea menu is creative and extensive, including flavors like Porto Wine Touch (black tea, raisins and Porto wine aroma), blooming tea or oriental apple, all served in the most delicate vintage porcelain. And If you feel like having something sweet, share a slice of fresh cake or crepe.

Trevo de Chá

This charming tea house serves a range of exotic teas like oolong with chocolate and hazelnut, piña colada and the fascinating blooming tea; a flower that opens inside your cup. The more traditional ones were not forgotten, so you can also choose white or green tea. Trevo de chá has freshly baked cakes every day, scones with homemade jam, pastéis de nata and also daily lunch menus.
