So let’s say you are one of those people who like to know every nook and cranny of the places you travel to. Maybe you enjoy taking as many day trips as you can when visiting a new country… perhaps reaching every single neighbourghood in the outskirts is a goal, or – who knows – you’re just a precious little snow flake who can’t stand waiting for public transportation (you do exist – don’t hide!). We get it though, sitting on a crowded bus for 3 hours isn’t exactly the most comfortable way of spending your much-needed holidays. That being said, if you want all the freedom in the world and the ultimate comfy ride, then you should definitely consider renting a car while in Porto. Ready for your road trip?
HERE ARE 4 PLACES WHERE YOU CAN RENT A CAR IN PORTO
EUROPCAR

If you’re a follower of the “go big or go home” motto, then choosing the biggest rent a car network in the country is your most logical step. With different strategic vending points located at the airport, in the city centre and next to the city’s busiest train station (Campanhã), Europcar vows to attend to your every need, also providing renting services for bikes and scooters – should you feel a bit wilder. If you don’t know how to drive or simply don’t feel comfortable driving abroad, they even have a special chauffeur service at your disposal, where one of their designated drivers will be taking you wherever you want as if you were a freakin’ movie star! In order to rent your vehicle at Europcar you must be at least 19, and the cheapest option (Renault Twingo 3D or similar) will set you back around 45€/day.

SIXT

The next rent a car company on our list enjoys privileging quality over quantity, which is why at Sixt you can choose your favourite model from the biggest luxury and sports car fleet in Europe! Unlike many other companies in the business, no credit card fees apply when renting your car from Sixt, and with options starting at 28€/day for your average Volkswagen UP (if you don’t wish to include the loss damage waiver), this is a great value for money grab. Also, if you’re planning on driving across the country, their E-Toll service can be a pretty helpful addition. For only 1,85€/day, you don’t have to worry about local laws on toll fees which – we must admit – are sometimes pretty damn confusing. So that you can rent a car at Sixt, you must be at least 19 and hold a driver’s license for a minimum period of 1 year.

SURPRICE CAR RENTALS
As you might have guessed by now, Surprice Car Rentals is definitely your go-to place if your current cash balance is down in the gutter, as the company’s car renting prices will leave you…well, “surpriced” (such a cringy name though!). On average, nowhere else in the city will you be able to find a cheaper option, with rates going as low as 10€/day for a Peugeot 108, or a similar model. Better yet, this price already includes Theft & Personal Accident Insurance, as well as 24 Hours Road Assistance, so they definitely got you “covered” (see, we can do smart puns too)! As a final note, if you’re interest in renting a car at Surprice, you must be at least 21, though they only accept online bookings if you’re 23 or older.
