You know a city has gone fully global when you feel like you can dine anywhere in the world without walking more than a few blocks! Granted Porto might not yet be the boiling melting pot of cultures you’d expect, we are slooooowly getting there (watch out New York!). In fact, our latest batch of recently open places to eat in Porto reflects just that! From lovely Asian eateries to brand-new Indian restaurants, the city’s offer grows bigger and more diverse by the day – and you will love it!
HERE ARE 4 RECENTLY OPEN PLACES WHERE YOU EAT IN PORTO
REITHOR
Let’s start with a place that stands as a pretty accurate embodiment of the variety we mentioned above. Much like its name suggests, Reithor is a surf & turf restaurant where you can have it all! Whether you feel like having a juicy, glorious T-Bone steak or traditional Portuguese codfish, rest assured you can satisfy your cravings both ways when eating here. Best of all? Besides delicious and eclectic, it’s also pretty light on your budget, with rotating daily menus available from 7,90€ – soup, coffee and 1 drink included! Reithor is open every day between 11am and midnight (closed for dinner on Mondays).

The King is dead, long live the King! Inaugurated on the exact same space where a pretty popular brunch place used to work, Surya is one of the latest additions to Porto’s developing Asian food scene. In fact, the restaurant still uses much of its predecessor’s decorative elements, only now you can get some kick-ass ramen and delicious veggie spring rolls instead of cookies and croissants! Besides, don’t forget to take a look at their respectable sushi and sashimi options and cap off your meal with an eyebrow-raising flavour of artisanal ice cream – green tea, ginger or black sesame seeds? Make your choice! Surya is open from Monday to Saturday between during lunch (noon-3pm) and dinner (7pm-11pm) times.

BOLLYWOOD

Not very hard to guess what kind of food you’ll have at a place called Bollywood, is it? Striving to recreate India’s swirling and never-ending street food business, the city’s newest ethnic restaurant will give you the opportunity to try some of that country’s most popular and iconic street dishes, without having to worry about playing Russian roulette with your stomach (oh the infamous Delhi Belly!). Jokes aside, and in case you’re a big fan of their native food such as we are, their extensive offer of curries, massalas and tandooris will make your mouth water as soon as you set foot inside this amazing little Indian restaurant! Bollywood is open every day between during lunch (noon-3pm) and dinner (7pm-11pm) times.

CAPIM DOURADO

The Portuguese love Brazil! Though maybe sometimes we choose to look-out for the few things that separate us despite all that we have in common (including DNA), we are huuuuuge fans of all things Brazilian: the samba, the football, the happy spirit – and of course – the delicious food! For those who tend to lean on the latter, Capim Dourado is the newest spot to try out the best Brazilian flavours while in Porto. However, and unlike most Brazilian places in the city, Capim’s menu doesn’t focus on grilled meat or South-American beef cuts, choosing instead to shed some light on the still largely unknown native-Brazilian culinary selections. If you’ve never tried dishes like moqueca or had any meal with exotic-sounding ingredients such as tapioca or okra, then maybe you’re in for a treat! Capim Dourado is open from Tuesday to Saturday during lunch (noon-3pm) and dinner (7h30pm-11pm) times.
