When singing in the shower just doesn’t do your voice justice, a visit to a karaoke bar might be the answer you’re looking for. Whether you want to revive memories of a forgotten singing career, or have a good laugh with your friends while failing Beyoncé’s high notes, we’ve got you covered. Finding a cool place to sing-along in Porto isn’t easy, so we did the hard part for you. Below is the most up-to-date list of karaoke bars in and around the city.
Pixote Karaoke Bar
Open since 1986, Pixote is undoubtedly Porto’s most iconic karaoke bar. They’ve been hearing brilliant—and dreadful—singers for the past 30 years, so you really have nothing to fear. This small venue has a cozy atmosphere, so it won’t feel as unsettling as a rock concert. The deal is to chill out, have a few drinks, and let the music run through you like you mean it. Plus, the musical selection is mostly foreign and updated often, so you won’t have any trouble in finding your favorite hits. And if you feel like it, you can learn some Portuguese pop songs along the way.
Where: Rua do Campo Alegre, 241
When: Monday to Sunday from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am

Radio Bar
***Permanently closed since June 2019***

Located in the heart of Baixa, Radio bar is a spot that functions in two transmissions (so to speak): the dance-crazy FM downstairs, and a low-key AM upstairs. Every Thursday night, the I <3 Karaoke sessions kick in with a catalog of over 10.000 songs in 15 different languages. And because special occasions need special hosts, you can count on the presence of karaoke-wizard Carlos Leça, who’ll make the experience a whole lot more amusing. Oh, and occasionally they’ll give out free shots to the keenest singers. Just so your throat—and bravado—won’t dry out.
Where: Praça Filipa de Lencastre 178
When: Every Thursday from 11:30 pm to 4:00 am

Vibrações Bar (Vila Nova de Gaia)
If your heart desires it, but singing for a crowd gives you the jitters, then maybe you’d want to relocate to a relaxing environment. That’s one of the reasons to visit Vibrações Bar, that sits atop the sands of Madalena beach. But in all honesty, we’ve heard their karaoke nights on Fridays and Saturdays are all fired up.
Where: Rua da Praia 8, Vila Nova de Gaia
When: Fridays and Saturdays from 10:30 pm to 12:00 pm

Adega Sports Bar
While in a sports bar you’d probably only clear your voice to chant for your favorite team, surprisingly, Adega holds karaoke sessions on appointment. So if you join your mates and form a decent squad, why not take turns beating each other at crooning or attempting awkward falsettos? Seems like a winner to us. While you wait, you can always watch a match, play a hand of snooker, or perhaps grab a pint and feast on chicken wings.
Where: Rua de José Falcão 180
When: Call Adega to make an appointment.

Striky Bowling (Amarante)
If you’re out and about a little up north of Porto, then why not stop by Striky Bowling? We’ll tell you why you should: you can bowl, play snooker, table football, darts, and sing karaoke. This will probably tick every box if you’re a Big Lebowski fan. Although not a karaoke bar per se, this bowling alley is committed to giving you a super fun experience.
Where: Rua das Golas 1178, Amarante
When: Stay tuned to their Facebook; often on Saturdays from 11:00 pm to 12:30 pm
