The psychedelic rock band Wand, is coming back to Porto after their concert in Nos Primavera Sound last June. Their latest album “Plum”, released in September, was well received by critics who often refer to it as one of the best albums by the band.

Sereias, the Portuguese jazz-punk band, will also play on the same night as a supporting act.

It’s definitely worth checking out if you are in the mood for some rock and roll on a Friday night.

Actores

Actores

When: 07/02/2018-11/02/2018

Where: Teatro Nacional São João

Price: 7,50€ – 16,00€

This play was created after its director observed some well-known Portuguese actors and comedians in their “natural habitat”, practicing or memorizing lines in their dressing rooms. We can expect to see something raw and autobiographic, since these actors will play some of their most iconic roles. It will be a walk down memory lane for each one of them.

Oh, and you don’t have to worry if you can’t understand Portuguese, the play will have English subtitles available.

Pinguim Café

Where: Pinguim Café

Pinguim Café is a space with its own soul and identity. Good music is always playing, and you have a wide selection of cocktails and drinks, which preparation is a unique show in itself. Some crazy shots are also available, but I won’t spoil it for you… you’ll have to go there yourself and discover!

Every Monday night they have poetry readings in the basement, where you can hear the works of some acclaimed Portuguese writers, like Fernando Pessoa or António Gedeão. These readings are quite notable in this bar, since they began more than 25 years ago. So come along, have a drink to warm up, and listen to some poetry!

Tricky

When: 28/02/2018

Where: Hard Club

Price: 25€

Finally, if you’re a fan of trip-hop or of Massive Attack’s early work, we have the perfect way for you to end your month.

Straight out of the Bristol music scene and with thirteen albums under his sleeve, Tricky is still one of the most enigmatic musicians out there after more than thirty years in the music business. In his last album “Ununiform”, he went back to his classic sound; with melancholy and heart-break he tried to tell the story of his life in most of the lyrics.

We will definitely not miss this one, so hope to see you there!

Marta
Born and raised by the sea but in love with Porto since I can remember. My biggest passions are music, books and cinema, and I’m slightly obsessed with collecting vinyl records and drinking coffee. You can always find me way too deep into my own thoughts. Is there life on Mars?
