“I really feel like washing, drying, ironing and folding my clothes right now!” – said no one ever. Unfortunately we can’t go out while wearing a t-shirt that looks dirtier and more wrinkled than a Shar-Pei after a weekend in the woods. But, we believe most of our readers will agree when we say doing our clothes has got to be one of the most tedious home chores there is! Be that as it may, and especially if you’re planning on travelling for longer periods, you’ll eventually need to find a laundromat (lavandaria) where to wash your clothes. If Porto is part of your upcoming itinerary (and it totally should!), then check out these 5 self-service places that can replace your mom!

Located in a 19th century building, Lavandaria do Infante is the kind of place where you can wash your clothes and do some sightseeing at the same time! Priding themselves on the top-quality and tech-savvy equipment at your disposal, they promise stellar and efficient service at reasonable prices. Here, you can use a standard 8kg washing machine for 4,90€ and then dry your clothes for 1,90€ in one of their dryers. If you’re counting every penny, make sure to not miss their happy hour (2pm-4pm) when each cycle is 0,50€ cheaper. A LAVANDEIRA

The next place on our list was actually one of the very first self-service laundromats in Porto! The concept is still fairly recent in the city, which is why an establishment open since 2013 can actually be considered a pioneer. Aimed towards tourists and locals alike, the washing machine’s menus can be displayed in 4 different languages (Portuguese, English, Spanish and French), and regular 45-minutes washing cycles may cost between 4,90€ (8kg) or 8,90€ (13kg) depending on how many pieces of clothing you’ll need to wash. A Lavandeira is open every day between 6am and midnight.
