Springtime filled the city with blossoming flowers but also with new open bars and coffee shops. We have some exciting reopenings. It might look like “The Aristocats”, but it’s just the blooming of new businesses in Porto.
Come check them out!
Pherrugem

Pherrugem used to be one of the coolest bars in Porto, home to many rock n’ roll themed parties. Sadly, they had to close down last July due to a fire and they saw that as an opportunity to rise from the ashes. They reopened in March with a new concept that includes more food and drinks, perfect for a late afternoon get-together with some friends. And even though there’s no dance floor -it was replaced with tables with traditional azulejos -good music is still playing in the background.
Where: Rua das Oliveiras, 83
Opening hours: Monday-Sunday 02:00 p.m. – 02:00 a.m

Good news for all the pet lovers out there! The first cat café in Porto just opened, and it has a lot of cats for you to pet and a long list of vegan cakes and snacks.
After having a delicious dessert, visit the cats in the outside area or in the separate room where they usually hang out. They are all waiting for some cuddles and the best part is, they are all up for adoption. So, try not to fall in love because it’s kind of hard to fit a cat inside a suitcase.
Where: Avenida Rodrigues de Freitas, 93-95
Opening hours: Monday-Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 08:00 p.m. /Friday 02:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. / Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 08:00 p.m. / Closed on Sundays

The building and interiors are both spectacular, and they were kept basically intact. You should definitely stop for a cup of coffee and to take a look at one of the most historic buildings in Porto.

I am sorry to say this and I am aware they are probably making more money, but the old Pherrugem served a segment of the population that increasingly is having trouble finding places that cater to them. It is another one of the negative aspects of becoming a touristic spot so fast. In other words, I miss the old Pherrugem. Suggestion: A post about places that have different customers, in which you get in and just by looking at the customers and paying attention to the environment, you know is… different.
Hi there! Thank you for your feedback it’s very much appreciated. It’s always a pleasure for us to hear suggestions for content from our readers. We will definitely take into consideration.
