Xico Tico is a cozy spot that will greet you with a warm welcome (that is only comparable to Brazil’s heat) and present some of the best Brazilian tidbits, snacks and desserts. There’s the traditional coxinhas (chicken croquette), pastel de vento (pastry with light, crunchy dough filled with meat and cheddar or chicken and mozzarella) and tapioca (cassava gum) that is now definitely a crowd pleaser. There are options to share, brunch, açai bowls and classical Brazilian desserts like brigadeiros or bolo prestígio.

Botequim Salve Simpatia

After two locations in Rio de Janeiro, it was time for Salve Simpatia to take over Porto. Its décor pays homage to several Brazilian icons, with several photographs hanging on the walls providing a kind of homey-feel. Their menu is a fun journey through Brazilian cuisine and includes coxinhas, feijoada (Brazilian black bean stew) and picanha served with rice, black beans and farofa. There are desserts like brigadeiro and milk pudding with caramel sauce, plus a variety of caipirinhas including signature ones with pineapple, mint leaves, mango and grenadine.
