Five Brazilian Restaurants In Porto You’ve Gotta Check Out ASAP

It’s time for some Brazilian restaurants, so let’s travel all the way to South America.

In Brazil, every region has some kind of specialty, dishes that in their simplicity are also intense and flavorful.

After a delicious meal at these places (and some caipirinhas) you’ll definitely want to samba!

Capim Dourado will charm you with its tropical vibes coming straight from Amazonia combined with sleek, clean touches that give it a very distinctive appearance. From the appetizers to the main courses, almost every dish includes a traditionally Brazilian ingredient and the options include: moqueca de maracujá (white fish, shrimp and Brazilian chestnut rice) or Vaca atolada do capim dourado (rib eye covered with mandioca cream and farofa with banana and bacon). Don’t forget to check the drinks section, they have an assortment of caipirinhas prepared with goiaba or maracujá.

Xico Tico is a cozy spot that will greet you with a warm welcome (that is only comparable to Brazil’s heat) and present some of the best Brazilian tidbits, snacks and desserts. There’s the traditional coxinhas (chicken croquette), pastel de vento (pastry with light, crunchy dough filled with meat and cheddar or chicken and mozzarella) and tapioca (cassava gum) that is now definitely a crowd pleaser. There are options to share, brunch, açai bowls and classical Brazilian desserts like brigadeiros or bolo prestígio.

Botequim Salve Simpatia

After two locations in Rio de Janeiro, it was time for Salve Simpatia to take over Porto. Its décor pays homage to several Brazilian icons, with several photographs hanging on the walls providing a kind of homey-feel. Their menu is a fun journey through Brazilian cuisine and  includes coxinhas, feijoada (Brazilian black bean stew) and picanha served with rice, black beans and farofa. There are desserts like brigadeiro and milk pudding with caramel sauce, plus a variety of caipirinhas including signature ones with pineapple, mint leaves, mango and grenadine.

Here you will discover all of Brazil’s secrets: from the delicious food, to music or to the way how to party, since private and themed events are occasionally put together. Dona Picanha

Dona Picanha offers the true Brazilian flavors at a minimalist and elegant space. The most popular option is their “rodízio”, offering an assortment of food suitable for groups, couples or if you’re flying solo. For example, the his & her menu includes coxinhas, cheese fillet, picanha and several other types of meat. After a tasty main course try the quindim (a delicious dessert with coconut) or the lime pie, that is just as delicious as it is refreshing.
