What To Do What To See In Porto This October 2019

Our compilation of October Events is the perfect excuse to get you out of the house to appreciate the crisp weather and warm colours that fill the city of Porto during Autumn. As the leaves fall, the city is invaded by a triple threat: music, art and cinema.  And we think this is pretty much all we need to be happy, right?

Here is our list of October Events

The first edition of Porto Design Biennale is based on the cities of Porto and Matosinhos, planning to celebrate Portuguese design while building bridges between the national and international artistic scene. The main theme is “the tensions of the new millennium” with an assortment of exhibitions and workshops that will reveal how design is a necessary tool in such a fast-paced, ever evolving world. Italy is the guest country in this first edition, with three special exhibitions and a conference that will introduce new practices of italian design.

Nick Murphy is coming back to Portugal for an epic concert at Coliseu do Porto. The artist recently reinvented himself by leaving his alter ego “Chet Faker” behind and adjusting his sound. With influences that include jazz and hip-hop, his songs are catchy and captivating so we are sure you’re familiar with hits like “Talk is Cheap” or the cover of Blackstreet’s “No Diggity”. Let’s cross our fingers and hope these songs make it on the setlist!

Mark Lanegan will be visiting Hard Club on Halloween Night to present some of his latest songs from his yet to be released album “Somebody’s Knocking”. The musician started his career in 1984, with the psychedelic grunge band Screaming Trees and over the years he also collaborated with some iconic ensembles like Queens of the Stone Age and Mad Season. With his deep, haunting voice, we’re sure this concert will be kind of bewitching, so there’s no better plan for this night when the spirits all decide to come out to play.

Born and raised by the sea but in love with Porto since I can remember. My biggest passions are music, books and cinema, and I’m slightly obsessed with collecting vinyl records and drinking coffee. You can always find me way too deep into my own thoughts. Is there life on Mars?
