One big common complaint on the part of the whole Portuguese nation is how centralized the country is. Although Porto, as the country’s second biggest city, usually benefits from this problematic mindset, on a cultural level there is no match for Lisbon. Unfortunately, the way culture is run in this city, results in an exodus of artistic talents towards the capital. Therefore, these results honour the members of ‘resistance’ who chose to stay and enhance the city’s cultural value, as well as those who – though they had to leave – still fly the city’s flag high!

This year, Galeria Municipal do Porto once again won Best Art Gallery, while Museu Serralves – definitely one of the best and most renowned art institutions in the city – took home Best Museum.

When it comes to live performance groups, Teatro Experimental do Porto was considered the Best Theater Company, with Momentum Crew winning Best Dance Troupe.

As for individual artists and performers, Dalila Carmo took the Best Actress award, while Ângelo Rodrigues repeated last year’s Best Actor win.

Finally, NOS Primavera Sound once again proved its humongous popularity, sweeping through the entire competition to win Best Festival!
