They say old habits die hard, and our Nightlife category’s results certainly abide by that rule. As it turns out, a lot of last year’s award winners saw their distinctions revalidated, showing that once you get a grip of the locals in Porto, you’ll be getting yourself a faithful, loyal group of party-goers!
This is a rule that seemed to apply to The Yeatman, which was once again nominated the Best Upscale Bar/Club, and to the iconic Espaço 77, back-to-back winner of the Best Dive Bar award! Plus, Hard Club once again took the top stop on the Best Live Music Venues list. Point made!
As for Maus Hábitos, one of 2018’s most awarded places, it seems like it has definitely taken off and gone big with the mainstream audience. As a result, they’ve lost the Best Underground Venue award to Plano B, but have in turn won the most coveted award in the category – Best Bar! Add it to several other different recognitions such as Best Pick-up Spot, Best LGBT Club and Best Bartender (Ivo), and it’s fair to say Maus Hábitos once again had a year to remember.
On a final note, Wine Quay won Best Wine Bar, a pretty prestigious award considering the city’s history and the subcategory’s fierce competition.
